A Few Travel Photos From Miami

A Week in Miami: Sun, Photos, and Family Time

Escaping the Wisconsin winter for a week in Miami was exactly what I needed. I stayed at a small, charming hotel in Coral Gables called Hotel Ponce de Leon, nestled in a neighborhood full of tree-lined streets, local cafés, and boutique shops. Every morning, I grabbed coffee from a nearby spot and took my time wandering—something about the slow pace of Coral Gables felt like a perfect balance to the city’s usual energy. Of course, the real highlight of the trip was spending time with family, catching up over Cuban food, and soaking in the warmth I’d been missing all season.

Photography was a big part of my trip, and Miami delivered. I spent one evening at Biscayne Bay capturing the skyline as the city lights flickered against the water. Another day, I worked on an edgy fashion shoot in Brickell, where sleek architecture and bold street style made for the perfect backdrop. Each neighborhood had completely different energy–one serene and expansive, the other fast-paced and full of attitude, but all reminded me why I love working with photographing new environments.

For a change of pace, I took a day trip to the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, a nice escape filled with winding paths, exotic plants, and quiet spots to  take it all in. Walking through the garden felt like stepping into another world, one where time slowed down.

Between the city’s skyline, the hustle & bustle of Brickell, and the tropical gardens of Fairchild, this trip was a perfect mix of inspiration, work, and rest which was exactly what I needed before heading back to winter at home.
